Security Services Control Committee in Supervisory Visit to Military Intelligence Agency Centre in Novi Sad

In line with the Committee’s 2017 Activity Plan, the members of the Security Services Control Committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia conducted a supervisory visit to the Military Intelligence Agency Centre in Novi Sad on 2 February 2017.
The Committee delegation was headed by Committee Chairman MA Igor Becic and comprised Committee member Marija Obradovic and Committee deputy members Jasmina Obradovic, Zvonimir Djokic and Dr Milorad Mijatovic.
In line with its duties, the Committee delegation supervised the legality of the Military Intelligence Agency Centre’s work. The Committee delegation was given direct insight into the documentation pertaining to the implementation of special procedures and measures for the covert gathering of data in the purview of the Military Intelligence Agency, and ascertained no irregularities. The Committee delegation was briefed on information of military policy and military/economic character concerning the analysis and assessment of potential and real threats. The delegation members also considered the efficiency and timeliness of information garnered by the Military Intelligence Agency which lie in the purview of other security agencies or the police. The delegation was allowed access to the offices, insight into documentation and relevant collections and registers in the purview of the Military Intelligence Agency, and the Military Intelligence Agency Centre personnel offered adequate information and responses on the agency’s operation.
The Committee delegation ascertained that the Military Intelligence Agency Centre in Novi Sad monitors the security situation and reacts in accordance with its duty as defined by law. The Committee delegation ascertained that the Military Intelligence Agency Centre acts in accordance with its authority and procedures prescribed by the law. The Military Intelligence Agency Centre personnel’s work received positive marks and the personnel was offered full support in its further engagement on the realisation of key tasks.
