On 12 August the Defence Attaché Office was officially opened in the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Minsk, the capital of the Republic of Belarus. The opening ceremony was attended by the ministers of defence of Serbia and Belarus, Aleksandar Vulin and Andrei Ravkov.
On this occasion Defense Minister Aleksandar Vulin has said that Serbia and Belarus cooperate better due to excellent relations between the two presidents, Alexander Vucic and Alexander Lukashenko, and that military cooperation is at the highest level so far.
- Belarus is a friendly country and the attitude of Belarus is such to support Serbia always and unreservedly in all international forums, and we are very grateful for this. Today's event is the evidence that our cooperation is developing in all areas. We pay a lot of attention to military-military cooperation, and this is not just a proof of our current relationship, but also a message for our future relations. We have space to develop our cooperation, we have room to make progress, and in this way we will make this possible -Minister Vulin said.
The opening of the Defense Attaché Office of Serbia to Minsk was attended by Assistant Defense Minister for Defense Policy Major General Milan Mojsilovic and Deputy Director of the Military Intelligence Agency, Colonel Zoran Stojkovic.
On the occasion of his official presentation in the country of accreditation, on 11 August, Colonel Saša Momčilović, Defence Attaché of the Republic of Serbia, was received by the Head of the Department of International Military Cooperation of the Ministry of Defense of Belarus, Major-General Oleg Voinov, who has highlighted our professional and serious approach to planning of the activities of bilateral military cooperation between the two countries, since the degree of realization of the plans is between 80 and 90 percent.
The Defense Intelligence Agency, as the bearer of a diplomatic function in the field of defense, is responsible for the work of Defence Attaché Offices tasked with representing and protecting the interests of the Ministry of Defense and the Serbian Armed Forces abroad.
